The North East in 1983
Tuesday, 12 January 2010

As a bit of support for the announcement of Project East Coast here's a video that's part of a wonderful selection on YouTube from the days of blue diesels and 'proper' trains. Taken outside Gateshead TMD and around the North East in 1983 there's a cracking selection of classic classes, it's really scary that it was 27 years ago when it still feels like yesterday!

We're Getting There ...
Friday, 18 December 2009

Just as a bit of fun after mentioning it on the front page here's a link into YouTube for a glimpse of the 1980s and the famous slogan.

Dim lights

The filming didn't go quite to plan, the police livery applied to 37093 was supposed to be water soluble and come off with a run through the engine wash. After filming on the Tyne Valley Route the loco went off for it's wash and brush up at Gateshead only to discover the paint wouldn't come off, it was hastily dispatched to Stratford for a repaint!
