Oops bit of a gap there in the updates – but then again with no internet for most of June it was to be expected I guess, sorry about that. VDA VansThese are now getting close to the point where they're going to be let loose on the RailWorks world and we’re already hearing there are some people who are getting quite excited. At the present time the master textured versions are off with the testers and the dia. 1/507 brake van has been baked and the testers have passed it back and base textures are being applied. It’s going to be a bit of tennis match between developers and testers in the next few weeks as the different versions on van are completed and passed out for final testing before they’re slotted into the scenarios ready for a final test. I’m hoping to be writing a manual and building an installer in about 4 weeks time if all goes well, but that will depend on everything hitting the quality mark! Please don’t pester for a release date – we’ll let you know when we’re happy and the time has come. The stock pack formerly known as MotorailWith thoughts starting to move away from the VDAs as the end approaches attention has started to turn back to the Newton Chambers car carrier and friends. The drive for this pack had always been the car carriers and creating a suitable train for them to be formed into, rather than a comprehensive Motorail pack. As a result we’ve taken the decision to rename the stock pack ‘The Night Capitals’ as this was the service that has really driven the thinking for this pack from the start. The other reason for the name change is that we didn’t want to be in the position where people thought they were getting Motorail flat etc when there was no intention of including them. As for the other contents of the pack I hear you ask? There’s definitely going to be a GUV and some other rolling stock that's not been seen in RailWorks yet to keep both items company as a part of ‘The Night Capitals’. As models are started and a render becomes appropriate we’ll start to tell you about them, or you could just take a peak at a carriage working notice … Audience participationThere are a couple of things we’d like to hear from you about, please drop us a line by posting a comment on our Facebook wall or using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page. The release of the VDA vans is just round the corner, would you like us to produce a demo version like we did with the 102t tanks or just concentrate on getting the final versions released? With the end approaching for the three packs that were initially announced thoughts are turning to the next set of stock packs to produce for RailWorks continuing the Project East Coast theme of suitable rolling stock for the period from 1974 to 1986. We’ve got some ideas of what we’d like to do but are more than happy to listen to your thoughts if you want to give us a shout. |
